Aquilo House buys 27% stake in Aavas Financiers, raises total holding to 49%

NEW DELHI - Aquilo House Pte. Ltd. Monday bought a 26.5% stake in Aavas Financiers Ltd. from three of its promoters, the Indian non-banking finance company Tuesday said in an exchange filing. Aquilo now owns 49% stake in Aavas, having acquired a 22.5% stake in March.
Lake District Holdings Ltd. sold 12.35 million equity shares of Aavas Financiers, making up 15.6% of the total share capital of the NBFC, to Aquilo through an off market transfer on Monday. Similarly, Partners Group ESCL Ltd. sold 5.98 million shares or 7.55% stake in Aavas to the Singapore based Aquilo. Partners Group Private Equity (Master Fund) sold 2.62 million shares or 3.31% stake in Aavas Financiers to Aquilo.
The Reserve Bank of India had in February allowed Aquilo House to acquire a controlling stake of up to 52.68% in Aavas Financiers. The agreement for the transaction had been made in August between Aquilo House, Aavas Financiers, and the promoters. The Competition Commission of India had approved the transaction on Oct. 23.
Aavas Financiers had reported a net profit of INR 1.54 billion for the quarter ended March, up 8% on year. Shares of Aavas Financiers Tuesday ended 2.8% lower at INR 2,033.50 on the National Stock Exchange of India. End
