India June GST mop-up grows at slowest pace in 4-years at 6.2%

NEW DELHI – India's goods and services tax collections grew 6.2% on year to INR 1.85 trillion in June, data released by the government Tuesday showed. At 6.2%, the on-year growth in GST collections in June was at the slowest pace in four years. In June 2021, GST collection at INR 928 billion, was up 2.1%.

 

Sequentially, June GST collections were down 8.2% from May. Cumulatively, GST collections in the first three months of 2025-26 (Apr-Mar) grew 11.8% on year to INR 6.224 trillion, higher than the 10.9% growth projected in the Budget.

 

Of the total collections in June, Central GST accounted for INR 345.58 billion, State GST INR 432.68 billion, Integrated GST accounted for INR 932.80 billion, and INR 134.91 billion was from compensation cess. GST revenue, net of refunds, was INR 1.591 trillion in June, up only 3.3% on year.

 

Gross domestic GST revenue rose 4.6% on year to INR 1.389 trillion in June, while the import revenue rose to INR 456.90 billion from INR 410.12 billion a year ago. Refunds during the month rose sharply by 28.4% on year to INR 254.91 billion. The post-settlement revenues of states rose 4.6% on year to INR 1.389 trillion in June.  End
