NEW DELHI – The government has imposed countervailing duty on the import of digital offset printing plate from China and Taiwan for five years, the finance ministry said in a notification Friday. Imports of digital offset printing plate--through which ink is applied to paper or other materials--from China and Taiwan will face a countervailing duty of $0.21-$1.16 per square metre, according to the notification.

The Directorate General of Trade Remedies had recommended the countervailing duty on digital offset printing plates from China and Taiwan in March. In an investigation, the Directorate General of Trade Remedies had found that digital offset printing plates were exported to India from China and Taiwan at subsidised prices. The investigation concluded that there is threat of material injury to the domestic industry on account of these imports from China and Taiwan.  End
