US natural gas stocks rise by 96 bcf in week ended Jun 20, says EIA

NEW DELHI – US natural gas inventory rose by 96 billion cubic feet in the week ended Jun. 20, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration. The inventory was 6.6% higher than the five-year average for this time of the year, the agency said in its weekly report.

 

The agency pegged total gas in underground storage at 2.9 trillion cubic feet as of Jun. 20, over 6% lower than 3.1 trillion cubic feet a year ago. The stocks are 179 billion cubic feet higher than the five-year average of 2.7 trillion cubic feet, the report said.

 

Total working gas remained within the five-year historical range. All the regions of the US – the east, mid-west, mountain, Pacific, and the Salt and Non-Salt south-central regions – saw a rise in inventory. At 1847 IST, the most active August contract of natural gas on the New York Mercantile Exchange was at $3.62 per million British thermal units, up 2.9% from the previous close.  End
