MUMBAI - India received 9.9 millimetres rainfall on Friday, 32% above the normal of 7.5 millimetres, according to the India Meteorological Department. Three of the four homogeneous regions across the country received above-normal rainfall, while one recorded below-normal showers.
Rainfall in south peninsula India was 28% above normal at 7.1 millimetres, the data showed. Rainfall in central India was 92% above normal at 16.7 millimetres. Northwest India received 47% above-normal rainfall at 5.9 millimetres. East and northeast India recorded 6.7 millimetres of rainfall, 53% below the normal of 14.3 millimetres.
Of the 36 subdivisions, rainfall on Friday was 'large excess' in 10, 'excess' in nine, 'normal' in four, 'deficient' in five, and 'large deficient' in eight, data from the department showed. Since Jun. 1, the country has received 156.4 millimetres of rain, 10% above the normal for the period, the data showed. End
