--IMD: India Jun 1-26 rainfall at 146.6 mm, 9% above normal

 

MUMBAI - India received 10.8 millimetres rainfall on Thursday, 45% above the normal of 7.4 millimetres, according to the India Meteorological Department. Three of the four homogeneous regions across the country received above-normal rainfall, while one recorded below-normal showers.

 

Rainfall in south peninsula India was a whopping 126% above normal at 12.5 millimetres, the data showed. Rainfall in central India was 81% above normal at 15.8 millimetres. Northwest India received 56% above-normal rainfall at 5.9 millimetres. East and northeast India recorded 7.4 millimetres of rainfall, 46% below the normal of 13.7 millimetres.

 

Of the 36 subdivisions, rainfall on Thursday was 'large excess' in 19, 'excess' in four, 'normal' in three, 'deficient' in five, and 'large deficient' in five, data from the department showed. Since Jun. 1, the country has received 146.6 millimetres of rain, 9% above the normal for the period, the data showed.  End
