MUMBAI - India received 10.8 millimetres rainfall on Wednesday, 54% above the normal of 7.0 millimetres, according to the India Meteorological Department. All four homogeneous regions across the country received above-normal rainfall.
Rainfall in northwest India was a whopping 131% above normal at 8.5 millimetres, the data showed. Rainfall in south peninsula was 56% above normal at 8.3 millimetres. Central India received 52% above normal rainfall at 12.7 millimetres. East and northeast India recorded 14.0 millimetres of rainfall, 12% above the normal of 12.5 millimetres.
Of the 36 subdivisions, rainfall on Wednesday was "large excess" in 14, "excess" in six, "normal" in five, "deficient" in seven, and "large deficient" in four, data from the department showed. Since Jun. 1, the country has received 7% above normal rainfall for the period at 135.3 millimetres, the data showed. End
