Indian companies' investment in overseas JVs, arms down 52.7% on month at $2.83 bln May

MUMBAI – Investment by Indian companies in their overseas joint ventures and subsidiaries fell 52.7% on month to $2.83 billion in May from $5.98 billion in April, according to data released by the Reserve Bank of India on Monday. Indian companies had made overseas investments worth $3.09 billion in May last year.
Of the total overseas investments in May, the companies had invested $929.90 million in equity, sharply down from $1.94 billion in the previous month. Companies committed $1.28 billion and $623.53 million through loans and guarantees in May, respectively. The comparable figures for April are $1.08 billion and $2.96 billion, respectively. The data, based on online reporting by authorised dealer banks, is provisional and subject to change, the RBI said. End
