NEW DELHI - The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation net added 1.91 million subscribers in April, up 1.2% on year, data released by the labour ministry Sunday showed. Of the net subscribers added in April, around 849,000 came under the social security cover of the EPFO for the first time.

 

"This increase in new subscribers can be attributed to growing employment opportunities, increased awareness of employee benefits, and EPFO's successful outreach programs," the ministry said. Of the total net payroll addition in the month of April, around 43.69% is from expert services, out of which manpower suppliers constitute around 50%, data showed.

 

Of the new members added in April, 57.7% were in the age group of 18-25 years. The first-time members included around 245,000 females. "The growth in female member additions is indicative of a broader shift towards a more inclusive and diverse workforce," the ministry added.

 

The top five states accounted for about 60.1% of net payroll additions, or a total of around 1.15 million net additions, during the month. Maharashtra accounted for 21.1% of the net new members. The EPFO payroll data is provisional and subject to revision.  End
