--IMD: India Jun 20 rainfall at 9.2 mm, 51% above normal
--IMD: India Jun 1-20 rainfall at 92.0 mm, 1% below normal

MUMBAI – India received 9.2 millimetres of rainfall Friday, 51% above the normal 6.1 millimetres, according to data from the India Meteorological Department. Of the four homogeneous regions across the country, one received below-normal showers, while the other three recorded above-normal rainfall.

Rainfall in the Northeast and eastern India was 37% above normal at 16.3 millimetres, data from the department showed. In north western India, rainfall was a whopping 152% above the normal at 6.3 millimetres. Central India recorded 12.7 millimetres of rainfall, 89% above the normal 6.7 millimetres. On the other hand, the southern peninsula received 65% below normal rainfall at 2.0 millimetres.

Of the 36 subdivisions, rainfall Friday was "large excess" in 12, "excess" in three, "deficient" in 12, and "large deficient" in seven, the data showed. One subdivision received "normal" showers, and there was no rain in one subdivision. Since Jun. 1, the country has received 92.0 millimetres of rainfall, 1% below the normal weighted average of 92.8 millimetres for the period, the data showed.  End
