--Govt: Next round of India-EU FTA talks from Jul 7

NEW DELHI – India and the European Union will hold the next round of negotiations for a free trade agreement from Jul. 7, the commerce ministry said on Monday. The two sides had held the last round of discussions in May. Both regions have set a deadline of December to conclude the trade deal. There has been considerable progress in the talks so far.

India is looking to expedite the conclusion of negotiations with the EU by signing the trade deal in tranches. The two sides had resumed discussions in 2023 after a gap of nine years. The trade talks, initially started in 2007, were later suspended due to differences over market access.

The EU is among the top export destinations for Indian goods, with a share of over 15% in India's total outbound shipment. India had exported goods worth $75.76 billion to the EU in 2024-25 (Apr-Mar), and had a trade surplus of $15.10 billion.  End
