NEW DELHI – Shares of Boeing Co. fell nearly 6% to $201.28 on the New York Stock Exchange in early trade Thursday, suggesting investor apprehensions over the safety and integrity of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft following the crash, earlier in the day, of Air India's Ahmedabad-London Flight AI-171 immediately after takeoff.
The aircraft involved in the crash was a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The plane crashed into a residential neighbourhood just outside Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, possibly killing over 240 people, including passengers and crew. The cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
In a statement issued Thursday, Boeing said it was in touch with Air India regarding the flight and "ready to support them". End
