"All efforts are being made to ensure medical aid and relief support are being rushed to the site. My thoughts and prayers are with all those on board and their families."

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said the flight, operated with a Boeing 787 aircraft with the call sign VT-ANB, crashed immediately after takeoff. The plane was carrying 230 passengers, two pilots, and 10 cabin crew.

A defence ministry spokesperson said in a statement that a medical team and rescue personnel of the Indian armed forces had been deployed for rescue operations.

A spokesperson for the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport said in a statement that all flight operations at the airport had been suspended until further notice. The spokesperson also advised passengers to check with their airlines for the latest updates before proceeding to the airport.

N.
