Govt levies anti-dumping duty on palmitate from China, EU, Switzerland

NEW DELHI – The government Friday imposed anti-dumping duty on palmitate imported from from China, the European Union, and Switzerland, the finance ministry said in a notification. Palmitate is synthetic form of vitamin A often used in skincare, supplements, and fortified foods.
The government has levied a duty of $0.87-$20.87 per kg of palmitate imported from the mentioned regions, according to the notification. The duty is effective for five years, the notification said.
In March, the commerce ministry's Directorate General of Trade Remedies had recommended imposition of anti-dumping duty on imports of palmitate originating in or exported from China, the European Union and Switzerland to address injury to the domestic industry. End
