MUMBAI – Heavy rainfall is expected to resume over parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya from Monday to Thursday, the India Meteorological Department said. Heavy rainfall is also likely over parts of Tripura till Saturday and over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from Monday to Wednesday, the weather department said.

The weather bureau sees multiple weather systems throughout the country, which include one upper air circulation over the northwest and another one over the northeast. An upper air circulation also lies over north interior Karnataka and its neighbourhood, while a fresh western disturbance running as a trough is seen over north India, the bureau said. These weather systems are likely to cause a wet spell across the country in the next seven days, it said.

Light or moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is likely over parts of east and central India in the next seven days, the weather agency said. Similar weather conditions are also seen over parts of south India on Monday and Tuesday, while light or moderate rainfall is seen over parts of Kerala and coastal Karnataka in the next seven days, the agency said.

In northwest India, a wet spell is likely to prevail till Thursday, the weather department said.

Heatwave conditions are likely over west Rajasthan from Sunday to Tuesday, the weather bureau said. A heatwave is also seen over parts of northwest and northcentral India on Monday and Tuesday, the bureau said. Hot and humid weather is seen over Odisha till Tuesday, and over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu till Sunday, it said.

Maximum temperatures in northwest India are likely to rise by 3-5 degree Celsius in the next four days, after which they could fall by 2 degree Celsius, the weather department said. In central India, maximum temperatures are expected to rise by 2-4 degree Celsius in the next five days, and no significant change is seen thereafter, it said.

In east India, maximum temperatures are likely to rise by 2-4 degree Celsius in the next two days, after which no significant change is seen. No significant change in maximum temperatures is likely over the rest of the country, the weather bureau said.

The northern limit of the southwest monsoon has been stuck over Mumbai since May 26, while the eastern arm has been stagnant over Sikkim and sub-Himalayan West Bengal since May 29. End
