US natural gas stocks rise by 122 bcf in week ended May 30, says EIA

MUMBAI – US natural gas inventory rose by 122 billion cubic feet in the week ended May 30, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration. The inventory was nearly 5% higher than the five-year average for this time of the year, the agency said in its weekly report.
The agency pegged total gas in underground storage at around 2.6 trillion cubic feet as of May 30, 10% lower than 2.89 trillion cubic feet a year ago. The stocks are 117 billion cubic feet higher than the five-year average of 2.48 trillion cubic feet, the report said.
Total working gas remained within the five-year historical range. All the regions of the US – the east, mid-west, mountain, Pacific, and the Salt and Non-Salt south-central regions – saw a rise in inventory. At 1334 IST, the most-active July contract of natural gas on the New York Mercantile Exchange was at $3.70 per million British thermal units, up 0.6% from Thursday's close. End
