NEW DELHI - Tata Motors Ltd. Tuesday launched an electric variant of its sport utility vehicle Harrier, priced at INR 2.15 million ex-showroom, Mumbai. Squarely positioned as a competitor to automotive giant Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.'s XEV 9e, Tata Motor's electric Harrier will also come with a lifetime battery warranty, the company said in a press release.
"From defining the SUV segment in the 1990s with iconic nameplates to democratising it by boldly entering new whitespaces in the 2020s, our journey has always been driven by innovation and leadership," Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle Ltd. and Tata Passenger Mobility Ltd.'s Managing Director Shailesh Chandra said in a statement.
Harrier's rear wheel drive variant can achieve a real-world range of 480-505 kilometres, and is powered by a 75 kilo-watt hour battery, the company said. A 15-minute fast charge can provide a 250-kilometre range. The electric Harrier is built on Tata Motors' pure electric vehicle architecture acti.ev+ and can travel to 100 kilometre per hour from zero in 6.3 seconds.
The vehicle will be available in four colours, namely Nainital Nocturne, Empowered Oxide, Pristine White, and Pure Grey. Additionally, the company will also launch a 'stealth' edition of the vehicle in a matte black shade, blacked-out elements, and dark interiors.
For the March quarter, Tata Motors reported a consolidated net profit of INR 84.70 billion on revenues of INR 1.195 trillion. Tuesday, its shares closed at INR 703.85 on the National Stock Exchange, down 1.1%. End
