HYDERABAD – NMDC Ltd. iron ore sales jumped nearly 54% on year to 4.34 mln tonne in May and output surged nearly 89% to 4.43 million tonnes due to a low base on account of workers unrest at its Chhattisgarh mine, a source said. Later in the day, the company's filing to exchanges confirmed the sales and production data.
For Apr-May, on a cumulative basis, NMDC achieved a nearly 25% on-year growth in iron ore sales to 7.94 million tonne, while output was up by nearly 45% on year at 8.43 million tonne. The source had said the company had lost over 40 days of production in the year-ago period, resulting in a lower base.
On May 25, NMDC management said it was aiming to sell 54 million tonnes to 55 million tonnes of iron ore in 2025-26 (Apr-Mar). The company said the first two months' sales volumes are encouraging and giving confidence to achieve the target. For FY25, NMDC missed its iron ore sales target of 50 million, reporting 44.4 million tonne, down 0.2% on the year.
At 1243 IST, shares of NMDC traded at INR 70.69 on the National Stock Exchange, down 0.7% from their previous close. End
