Eicher Motors' Royal Enfield sales in May up 26% on year at 89,429 units

AHMEDABAD - Eicher Motors Ltd. sold 89,429 units of Royal Enfield motorcycles in May, 26% higher than the 71,010 units sold in the same month last year, the company said in an exchange filing Sunday. Exports of Royal Enfield motorcycles also rose sharply in May, by 82% to 13,609 units as against 7,479 units in the same month a year ago.

 

Segment wise, sales of models with engine capacity of up to 350cc rose 28% in May to 76,492 units from 59,852 units last year. Sales of motorcycles with engine capacity exceeding 350cc were up 16% at 12,937 units against 11,158 units, the company said.

 

For Apr-May, Eicher sold 175,988 Royal Enfield motorcycles, up 15% from the same period during the previous year. During the period, the company exported 24,166 units, up 69% from a year ago.

 

Eicher Motors reported a consolidated net profit of INR 13.62 billion on revenue of INR 52.41 billion for the March quarter. On Friday, shares of the company closed at INR 5,333.50 on the National Stock Exchange, down nearly 1% from the previous close.  End
