India May GST mop-up INR 2.01 tln, up 16.4% on year; dn from Apr

NEW DELHI – India's goods and services tax collections grew 16.4% on year to INR 2.011 trillion in May, data released by the government Sunday showed. Sequentially, GST collections were down 17.7% from April. GST collections in April were at a record high of INR 2.367 trillion.

 

Cumulatively, GST collections in the first two months of 2025-26 (Apr-Mar) grew 14.3% on year to INR 4.378 trillion, higher than the 10.9% growth projected in the Budget.

 

Of the total collections in May, Central GST accounted for INR 354.34 billion, State GST INR 439.02 billion, Integrated GST accounted for INR 1.088 trillion, and INR 128.79 billion was from compensation cess. GST revenue, net of refunds, was INR 1.738 trillion in May, up 20.4% on year.

 

Gross domestic GST revenue rose 13.7% on year to INR 1.498 trillion in May, while the import revenue rose to INR 512.66 billion from INR 409.56 billion a year ago. Refunds during the month fell 4% on year to 

INR 227.10 billion. The post-settlement revenues of states rose 13.7% on year to INR 1.479 trillion in May.  End
