IMD sees intensity of rainfall over the country reducing in next 6 days

MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department expects the intensity of rainfall in the country to reduce in the next six days, with no red alerts or forecasts of very heavy rainfall.
The bureau has issued an orange alert for Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Meghalaya for Sunday. It has also issued an orange alert over Himachal Pradesh till Monday and over Rajasthan from Monday to Wednesday. An orange alert indicates rainfall of 115.6-204.4 millimetres.
The depression over Bangladesh moved north-northeast wards and weakened into a well-marked low pressure area over Meghalaya and its neighbourhood states on Friday, and further weakened into a low pressure area over northeast Assam and its neighbourhood states on early Saturday. The depression became less intense at 0830 IST Saturday, the bureau said.
Light to moderate rainfall is likely to continue over most parts of northeast India during the next seven days. Very heavy rainfall over parts of Arunachal Pradesh is expected on Saturday, the department said. Isolated heavy rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds reaching 40-50 km per hour over Kerala and Karnataka is expected till Wednesday. Similar conditions are expected over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi till Wednesday. End
