India, Chile conclude first round of FTA talks, next round in 1-2 months

NEW DELHI – India and Chile concluded the first round of their Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement negotiation, a government release said Friday. "The next round of negotiations are expected in July/August 2025 and will be preceded by intersessional discussions through virtual conferences to address outstanding issues in advance of the upcoming meeting," it said in the release.
Discussions during the first round were held across 17 thematic tracks, including trade in goods, trade in services, movement of natural persons, and rules of origin.
After Peru, Chile is the second Latin American country with which India has started negotiations for a free trade agreement. The total bilateral trade with Chile in Apr-Jan was $362.71 million, which included exports worth $97.08 million, according to the latest data available with the commerce ministry. End
