MUMBAI – The weighted average rate on fresh rupee loans of scheduled commercial banks fell 9 basis points from a month ago to 9.26% in April, data released by the Reserve Bank of India on Friday showed. The weighted average rate on fresh rupee loans of public sector banks fell 20 bps on month to 8.46%, while those of private banks fell 24 bps to 10.08% in April. The weighted average lending rate of foreign banks fell by 19 bps to 8.74%.
The weighted average lending rate on outstanding rupee loans of scheduled commercial banks eased by 7 bps on month to 9.70% in April. The one-year median marginal cost of fund-based lending rate of scheduled commercial banks moderated to 8.95% in May from 9.00% in April.
The weighted average rate on fresh rupee term deposits of scheduled commercial banks was 6.30% for April, down 35 bps from 6.65% in March. The weighted average rates on fresh deposits of public sector banks fell 28 bps to 6.73% in April, while the rates of private sector banks declined 28 bps to 6.41%.
The weighted average domestic term deposit rate on outstanding rupee term deposits of scheduled commercial banks was 7.01% in April, down marginally from 7.03% in March. End
