NEW DELHI – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple projects worth INR 240 billion in Dahod district of Gujarat. He also inaugurated a locomotive manufacturing plant and flagged off an electric locomotive in Dahod. The prime minister said the locomative factory in Dahod would manufacture locomotives with 9,000 horsepower.

Addressing a gathering in Dahod, Modi said Gujarat had achieved the remarkable milestone of completing 100% electrification of its railway network.

India, he said, was making rapid progress in the manufacturing sector. "We export smartphones, vehicles, toys, weapons, and medicines, among other products. India is now a major player in the manufacturing of railway technology, with factories like the electric locomotive factory in Dahod.

"Three years ago, when I came here to lay the foundation stone for this factory, people were sceptical. However, it has become a reality, and we have successfully flagged off the first locomotive engine. This achievement is a matter of pride for Gujarat and the entire country," Modi said. He also flagged off two trains – the Vande Bharat Express between Veraval and Ahmedabad, and an express train between Valsad and Dahod.

Lauding the success of Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Modi said that those who attempted to "erase the sindoor of our sisters" had no idea of the consequences of their actions. India launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 7 in retaliation to the Apr. 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack, and destroyed terrorist camps at nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The prime minister said Operation Sindoor was not just military action, but a reflection of emotions. "I visited Vadodara before coming here. Thousands of mothers and sisters had gathered to celebrate the Indian armed forces. Similarly, here too, you all are expressing your blessings for Operation Sindoor by wearing the Tiranga. What terrorists did in Jammu and Kashmir, will India, led by Modi, sit quietly? If anyone attempts to erase the Sindoor of our sisters, it becomes crucial to eliminate them," Modi said.

"The sight of the Pahalgam attack sends shivers down my spine. Therefore, Modi acted as our countrymen desired," he said.  End
