NEW DELHI – The government is preparing the second asset monetisation pipeline and the entire plan will be announced by August, NITI Aayog Chief Executive Officer B.V.R. Subrahmanyam said on Saturday. In the Budget for 2025-26 (Apr-Mar), Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced a second asset monetisation plan under which the government aims to raise INR 10 trillion over the next five years.
The government had unveiled the first asset monetisation plan in 2021 for four years ending FY25, with the aim to unlock aggregate monetisation potential of INR 6 trillion. For this, the NITI Aayog was tasked with creation of the National Monetisation Pipeline for brownfield core infrastructure assets across roads, railways, shipping, aviation, power, telecom, oil and gas, and warehousing sectors.
Of the INR 6 trillion envisaged under the 2021 monetisation plan, till Aug. 5, 2024, the government raised INR 3.86 trillion, according to the latest data given by NITI Aayog. End
