--Govt: EPFO net added 1.46 mln members in March, up 1.2% on year
NEW DELHI – The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation net added 1.46 million subscribers in March, up 1.2% on year, data released by the labour ministry Wednesday showed. Of the net subscribers added in March, around 754,000 came under the social security cover of the EPFO for the first time, up 1.0% on year.
"This growth in new subscribers can be attributed to growing employment opportunities, increased awareness of employee benefits, and EPFO's successful outreach programs," the ministry said.
Of the new members added in March, 58.94% were in the age group of 18-25 years. The first-time members included around 208,000 females, 4.2% higher on year.
The top five states accounted for about 59.67% of net payroll additions, or a total of around 870,000 net additions, during the month. Maharashtra accounted for 20.2% of the net new members. The EPFO payroll data is provisional and subject to revision. End
