India's Apr natural gas import bill rises 30% on yr as domestic output falls

MUMBAI – India's natural gas import bill in April rose 30% on year to $1.3 billion due to lower domestic production, the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell said in a report. In volume terms, gas imports in April rose 21% on year to 3.03 billion standard cubic metres.
Domestic natural gas production fell nearly 2% on year to 2.91 billion standard cubic metres in April. During last month, the import dependency rose to 51.4% from 46.2% in the year-ago period, the data showed.
Meanwhile, the country's consumption of natural gas in April rose over 9% year-on-year to 5.9 billion standard cubic metres. The consumption of natural gas in April 2024 was 5.4 billion standard cubic metres, the data showed. End
