India's crude oil import bill down 17% on year to $10.8 billion in April

MUMBAI - India's crude oil import bill in April fell nearly 17% on year to $10.8 billion, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said in a report. In volume terms, the country's crude oil imports were 21.2 million tonnes in April, down around 1% from the corresponding period a year ago, the report said.

 

The country's dependency on crude oil imports in April rose to 90% from 88.5% in the corresponding period a year ago. Domestic crude oil production fell more than 4% on year to 2.3 million tonnes in April. The output of petroleum products in April fell over 4% on year to 22.4 million tonnes and consumption of petroleum products fell marginally on year to 20.1 million tonnes, the data showed.

 

In April, gross total petroleum imports, including crude oil and petroleum products, fell over 2% on year to 25.2 million tonnes. The value of gross total petroleum imports fell over 17% on year to $12.5 billion, the data showed. India's exports of petroleum products fell 13% on year to 4.2 million tonnes in April. The value of exports declined 35% on year to $2.4 billion during the period.  End
