MUMBAI – Max Financial Services Ltd. has reported a consolidated net profit of INR 313 million for the quarter ended March, against a net loss of INR 440.5 million reported a year ago. In the previous quarter, the company had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 560.4 million.
On a standalone basis, the company's net loss narrowed to INR 25.9 million in Jan-Mar from net loss of INR 36.8 million as reported a year ago.
The consolidated revenue from operations fell 16.9% on year to INR 123.76 billion for the latest quarter which led to an over 16% fall in total income. On a standalone basis, the revenue stood at INR 37.4 million as compared to INR 45.1 million on year ago.
The total expenses of the company also fell by over 17% on year to INR 123.72 billion in Jan-Mar. Sequentially, it was up nearly 40%. Within expenses, finance costs were up 41.5% and employee benefits expenses were up 54.5% on year. The policyholder expenses of life insurance operations fell 17.5% on year to INR 123.08 billion.
Axis Max Life Insurance Co., which is a subsidiary of the company, reported gross written premium of INR 332.23 billion, up 13% on year for 2024-25 (Apr-Mar) and renewal premium at INR 210.5 billion, up 14% on year.
The assets under management of the life insurance company, were up 16% on year to INR 1.75 trillion as on Mar. 31. The new business margin for FY25 moderated by 250 basis points on year to 24% from 26.5% a year ago. The solvency ratio stood at 201% as on Mar 31 from 172% a year ago, according to the investor presentation.
The company announced its results post market hours Tuesday. On the National Stock Exchange, the shares of Max Financial Services closed 0.2% lower at INR 1,290.10. End
