NEW DELHI – Sending a stern message to Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday said India is not going to tolerate any kind of nuclear blackmail, but will exercise restraint if it comes to the use of nuclear weapon. "We will attack decisively on terrorists prospering behind nuclear blackmail," the Prime Minister said in his address to the nation, the first one after May 7, when India launched Operation Sindoor--its military response to the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed.
His address came two days after India and Pakistan reached an understanding to end all military actions on land, air, and sea with immediate effect. The understanding between the two countries followed four days of intense cross-border strikes that had raised fears of an escalating conflict.
The statement came only hours after the Director General of Air Operations Air Marshal A.K. Bharti Monday clarified that Indian forces didn't hit Kirana Hills in Pakistan, which allegedly housed nuclear installations. There were speculations and various reports claiming India had struck the Mushaf Airbase in Sargodha, which is reportedly linked to an underground nuclear storage beneath the Kirana Hills, and the alleged attack involved loitering and penetrating munitions.
The Indian forces had launched precision strikes on the terrorist camps at nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday in retaliation for last month's Pahalgam terrorist. India's armed forces have clarified that the strikes were targeted solely at terrorist camps and not at Pakistani civilians or military installations. However, Pakistan armed forces responded to Indian strikes with heavy artillery shelling along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, and also launched drones to target Indian military installations and civilian areas. The Indian forces said that the waves of Pakistani drones and missiles were thwarted by the multiple layers of air defence grid. End
