NEW DELHI – Director General of Air Operations Air Marshal A.K. Bharti Monday clarified that Indian forces didn't hit Kirana Hills in Pakistan, which allegedly housed nuclear installations.
Responding to a question on whether India hit a nuclear facility in Kirana Hills, the air marshal said, "Thank you for telling us that Kirana Hills houses some nuclear installation, we did not know about it. We have not hit Kirana Hills, whatever is there."
The air marshal's remarks came amid speculations and various reports claiming that India had struck the Mushaf Airbase in Sargodha. This airbase is reportedly linked to underground nuclear storage beneath the Kirana Hills, and the alleged attack involved loitering and penetrating munitions.
At the joint press conference by the director generals of operations of the navy, army and airforce on Sunday and Monday, the military officers asserted that huge damage was inflicted to Pakistan armed forces and presented visual evidence. The air marshal showed the images of damages to the air defence system and airbases of Pakistan forces.
The forces launched precision strikes on the terrorist camps at nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday in retaliation for last month's Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 tourists and a Kashmiri resident were killed. India's armed forces have clarified that the strikes were targeted solely at terrorist camps and not at Pakistani civilians or military installations. However, the Pakistan armed forces responded to Indian strikes with heavy artillery shelling along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, and also launched drones to target Indian military installations and civilian areas. The Indian forces said that the waves of Pakistani drones and missiles were thwarted by the multiple layers of air defence grid.
On Saturday, both the sides arrived at an "understanding" to stop firing and military actions. End
