HYDERABAD – Larsen & Toubro Ltd. has emerged as the lowest bidder for two tenders worth a total of INR 10.23 billion to build apartment complexes for government staff, an Andhra Pradesh government source told Informist.
The Capital Region Development Authority of Amaravati, nodal agency for the upcoming greenfield capital city of Andhra Pradesh, had floated tenders for the construction of housing complexes for staff. Of the four tenders, totally worth INR 17.32 billion, L&T has emerged as the lowest bidder for two projects, the source said.
One project involves the construction of 855 apartments and the other involves the construction of 1,140 apartments to house non-gazetted officers of the state government. Shapoorji Pallonji & Co. Ltd. has emerged the lowest bidder for the remaining two tenders worth a total of INR 7.08 billion, the source said.
The state government is expected to issue the letter of award to both companies in the next few days, the source said. All four tenders are backed by funds provided by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank. The projects are to be completed in fast-track mode, the source said.
On Friday, shares of L&T ended 3.6% higher at INR 3,443.90 on the National Stock Exchange. End
