--[I] RBI: India May 2 FX reserves $686.06 bln, down $2.07 bln on week
NEW DELHI – India's foreign exchange reserves were down $2.07 billion week-on-week as of May 2 at $686.06 billion, data released Friday by the Reserve Bank of India showed. The reserves fell for the first time in nine weeks, over which period they had risen nearly $50 billion.
While the value of the RBI's gold holdings edged lower by $2.55 billion from the previous week to $81.20 billion, foreign currency assets as on May 2 were at $581.18 billion, up $514 million on week.
Calculated in dollar terms, the RBI's foreign exchange reserves also reflect the impact of appreciation or depreciation of currencies other than the US dollar, such as the euro, the pound sterling, and the yen, held by the central bank. End
