India foils Pakistani attacks at many places in J&K, Punjab, Rajasthan

NEW DELHI - Pakistan's armed forces Thursday night launched attacks at several places in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan. The defence ministry said the military stations in Jammu and Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir and Pathankot in Punjab were targeted by Pakistani drones and missiles.
"The threats were swiftly neutralised using kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities in line with established Standard Operating Procedures," the ministry said in a post on the social media platform X. "No casualties or material losses were reported." It added that India remains prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people.
Sources told Informist that Pakistani projectiles had targeted Jammu, Akhnoor, Udhampur, and Kishtwar in the Jammu division of Jammu and Kashmir. The Pakistani army also resorted to artillery shelling in the Samba and Akhnoor sectors. Television news channel ET Now reported that Pakistani forces had also targeted the airport in Jammu. Reports said Pakistani forces also launched attacks in the Jaisalmer and Jodhpur sectors in Rajasthan.
The sources said India's armed forces activated air defence systems to neutralise the Pakistani drones at several places. Media reports claimed that a Pakistan Air Force F-16 fighter and two JF-17s were downed by Indian defences. Some reports said Pakistan had admitted the loss of two aircraft. Media reports also said India had struck Lahore in Pakistan's Punjab province.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and called for immediately lowering the tension between India and Pakistan. "Secretary Marco Rubio spoke today with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar," the US Department of State said in a statement. "The Secretary emphasized the need for immediate de-escalation. He expressed U.S. support for direct dialogue between India and Pakistan and encouraged continued efforts to improve communications."
