Heavy rainfall is likely in parts of Uttarakhand and east Rajasthan till Wednesday. Hailstorm is also expected in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday and in Uttarakhand till Wednesday, the weather bureau said.
In east and central parts of the country, the India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in parts of Nicobar, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Bihar on Tuesday. Hailstorm activity is seen over Madhya Pradesh till Wednesday, the weather department said.
In the southern region, heavy rainfall is likely in parts of Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on Wednesday, while Kerala and Mahe are expected to see similar weather on Friday and Saturday. According to the weather agency, in the south peninsular India, hailstorms are anticipated in parts of Telangana on Tuesday.
Some areas of Arunachal Pradesh are likely to receive heavy rainfall on Tuesday and over the weekend, as per the weather bureau. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Assam and Meghalaya till Sunday, it said.
The meteorological department has advised farmers in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nicobar Islands, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Uttarakhand, east Rajasthan, and Gujarat to ensure proper drainage in crop and vegetable fields to prevent waterlogging due to expected heavy rainfall. In view of possible hailstorms, the weather agency recommends the use of hail nets and hail caps to protect vegetables and orchards from mechanical damage in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Gujarat.
Meanwhile, heatwave conditions are expected in parts of Gangetic West Bengal from Thursday to Monday, in Bihar and Odisha from Friday to Monday, and in Jharkhand from Saturday to Monday. Hot and humid weather is also expected over Odisha on Thursday, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal through Thursday, and in Kerala and Mahe until Wednesday, the weather department said.
To protect standing crops, vegetables and orchards from the adverse effects of heat waves and high temperatures, the weather bureau has advised to apply light and frequent irrigation in the evening. End
