--RBI: India Apr 25 FX reserves $688.13 bln, up $1.98 bln on week

 

NEW DELHI – India's foreign exchange reserves were up $1.98 billion week-on-week as of Apr. 25 at $688.13 billion, the higest in 27 weeks, data released Friday by the Reserve Bank of India showed. This was the eighth week in a row that the reserves had increased, over which period they have risen by nearly $50 billion.

 

While the value of the RBI's gold holdings edged lower by a minor $207 million from the previous week, foreign currency assets as on Apr. 25 were $580.66 billion, up $2.17 billion on week.

 

Calculated in dollar terms, the RBI's foreign exchange reserves also reflect the impact of appreciation or depreciation of currencies other than the US dollar such as the euro, the pound sterling, and the yen, among others, held by the Indian central bank.  End
