Sitharaman says Apr GST collection shows resilience of Indian econ

NEW DELHI – The highest ever goods and services tax collection of INR 2.37 trillion in April reflects resilience of the Indian economy, Finance Ministry Nirmala Sitharaman said Thursday. Data released earlier in the day showed GST collection increased 12.6% over April 2024.
"The figures showcase the resilience of the Indian economy and the effectiveness of cooperative federalism. Deepest gratitude to the taxpayers whose contributions and faith in the GST architecture drive the nation's progress," Sitharaman said on microblogging site X, formerly Twitter.
Of the total collections in April, Central GST accounted for INR 486.34 billion, State GST INR 593.72 billion, Integrated GST accounted for INR 1.153 trillion, and INR 134.51 billion was from compensation cess. GST revenue, net of refunds, was INR 2.094 trillion in April, up 9.1% on year. End
