NEW DELHI – Vedanta Ltd. expects to complete the demerger of its verticals into separate companies by September after all regulatory and statutory requirements are met, the company's management said in a post-earnings analysts call Wednesday.

The company is currently awaiting approval from the National Company Law Tribunal for the demerger.

Asked whether the completion of the demerger scheme will require mining leases to be transferred to the proposed new companies from Vedanta, the management said the demerger team has a detailed plan for approvals, which covers the mining lease transfers. All the processes are happening in parallel and the company expects to complete it by September, the management said.

The company had said earlier that it expected the demerger process to be completed by the end of 2024-25 (Apr-Mar). Under the proposed demerger scheme, five verticals of Vedanta will become standalone companies – Vedanta Aluminium Metal Ltd., Talwandi Sabo Power Ltd., Malco Energy Ltd., Vedanta Base Metals Ltd., and Vedanta Iron and Steel Ltd.

Shares of Vedanta ended Wednesday at INR 419.20 on the National Stock Exchange, up 0.7% from the previous close.  End
