MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department has predicted rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms and gusty winds over east and central India. Rainfall in east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh is likely to continue till Sunday. Observing the weather patterns such as heavy rains and hailstorms, the department has issued orange alerts for Odisha and coastal Andhra Pradesh for Wednesday.
Isolated heavy rainfall along with hailstorms is expected over Odisha and Bihar till Friday. Similarly, heavy rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and strong winds is likely over northeast India during the next five days. Due to heavy rainfall accompanied with thundersquall over Assam and Meghalaya, the department has issued an orange alert for Wednesday in these two states. Hailstorms are very likely over Nagaland and Manipur on Thursday.
In northwest India, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning and strong winds are likely over Jammu, Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from Thursday to Tuesday. In southern peninsular India, similar conditions are expected over Karnataka, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during next seven days. The department has forecast isolated hailstorms over Uttarakhand on Thursday and Friday.
Duststorms are likely over isolated places in east Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday and Thursday and in west Rajasthan till Sunday. Some regions such as Saurashtra in Gujarat will see severe heatwave conditions in isolated pockets on Wednesday. Similiar conditions are expected in isolated pockets of Jammu division and southwest Rajasthan on Wednesday and Thursday. End
