MUMBAI – JSW MG Motor India Friday said its popular SUV, the Hector, is now certified to run on E20 fuel--a blend of petrol with 20% ethanol--according to various media reports. This move aligns the government's mandate for E20 compliance in petrol-powered vehicles manufactured post Apr. 1.

All petrol variants of the Hector produced after Mar. 31 will meet the new ethanol fuel standards, reinforcing MG Motor's focus on sustainability, according to a Chinimandi report that quoted Rakesh Sen, head of sales at JSW MG Motor India, as saying. "The introduction of the E20-compliant version demonstrates in no uncertain terms our commitment to innovation and sustainability in everything we do", he added.

The MG Hector has two variants of engine--1.5-litre petrol MT and CVT versions--and offers a more eco-friendly option, according to media reports.

As a result of securing the E20 material certification, all petrol variants of the Hector rolling off the production line after Mar. 31 will meet this standard. Another SUV model from JSW MG, the Astor, has been E20 compliant since last year.  End
