MUMBAI — ACC Ltd. is likely to have seen year-on-year growth in sales during the March quarter as cement prices saw a slight improvement from the previous quarter. Sales are expected to rise due to higher volumes, which came on the back of higher spending by the government and better demand as the March quarter is generally a seasonally strong quarter, analysts said.

The company's sales volume during the quarter is expected to have risen 6-11% on year, according to estimates by Kotak Institutional Equities, Motilal Oswal Financial Services, Nomura, Nuvama Institutional Equities, and Prabhudas Liladhar.

Owing to this, the company's consolidated net sales are expected to rise over 8% on year to INR 58.50 billion, according to the average of the estimates of 14 brokerages. Sequentially, the company's net sales are expected to decline over 1%. The lowest estimate for net sales was INR 53.40 billion by YES Securities (India) Ltd., while the highest was INR 64.90 billion by Systematix Shares and Stocks (India) Ltd.

ACC is set to announce its earnings for the March quarter on Thursday.

While cement prices have increased compared to the previous quarter, prices are still lower compared to a year ago. The company's consolidated earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation is likely to decline 6% on year to INR 7.86 billion, according to the average of estimates from 14 brokerages. The estimates for EBITDA are in the range of INR 13.40 billion to INR 6.46 billion.

For the company's net profit, analysts have given adjusted estimates after removing exceptional items such as grant from the goverment. According to estimates by 14 brokerages, the adjusted consolidated net profit is expected to come in at INR 4.73 billion. The company had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 9.45 billion in the March quarter last year.

Shares of the company have risen over 4% since the company last reported its quarterly earnings on Jan. 27. On Tuesday, shares of the company closed at INR 2,081.70, down 0.3%.
