EPFO adds net 1.61 million subscribers in Feb, up 4% on year

NEW DELHI – The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation net added 1.61 million subscribers in February, up 4.0% on year, data released by the labour ministry Monday showed. Of the net subscribers added in February, around 739,000 came under the social security cover of the EPFO for the first time.
"This addition of new subscribers can be attributed to growing employment opportunities, increased awareness of employee benefits, and EPFO's successful outreach programmes," the ministry said.
Of the new members added in February, 57.71% were in the age group of 18-25 years. The first-time members included around 208,000 females, 1.26% higher on year.
The top five states accounted for about 59.75% of net payroll additions, or a total of around 962,000 net additions, during the month. Maharashtra accounted for 20.9% of the net new members. The EPFO payroll data is provisional and subject to revision. End
