CPI inflation in half of India's states higher than national average in March

NEW DELHI – While India's CPI inflation declined to a 67-month low of 3.34% in March, half of the country's states saw higher price increases than the national average, according to data from the statistics ministry.
Kerala saw the highest inflation in March at 6.59%, followed by Goa at 5.63% and Karnataka at 4.44%. Inflation was higher than 4% in Chhattisgarh as well at 4.25% last month. Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Haryana, Manipur, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Punjab, Nagaland, and Mizoram all had inflation higher than the national average of 3.34%.
On the other hand, retail inflation was the lowest in Telangana at 1.06%, followed by Delhi at 1.48%. Five states--Jharkhand, Sikkim, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan--had inflation lower than 3%. Inflation was also lower that the national average in Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, and Odisha.
Inflation fell in most states in March compared to February, including in Kerala and Karnataka. Manipur and Bihar saw the biggest decline in inflation in March against the previous month. Seven states witnessed a rise in inflation last month compared to February. End
