NEW DELHI – India's overall exports, merchandise and services combined, rose 6% on year to over $820 billion in the financial year ended Mar. 31, the commerce ministry said in a release late on Wednesday. The exports figure was announced by Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal at a meeting with exporters, and the release did not give a breakdown of merchandise exports and services exports.
Data released last month showed overall exports in Apr-Feb were $750.53 billion, 6.2% higher than the year-ago period. Merchandise exports were at $395.63 billion in Apr-Feb, up just 0.1% on year, while services exports were up 5.7% at $656.68 billion.
"In spite of multiple headwinds including the Red Sea crisis, Israel-Hamas conflict spilling over to Gulf region, continuation of Russia-Ukraine conflict and slow growth in some developed economies, the minister lauded the exporters for their resilience and efforts," the ministry said in the release.
