NEW DELHI - Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday lauded the newly enacted Waqf (Amendment) Act 2025 and termed it as a major step towards social justice. He accused the Congress of playing politics of appeasement and fuelling protests against the new Waqf laws.

"Politics of appeasement isn't a new concept. The seeds of this appeasement were sown during India's independence. The two-nation theory wasn't a decision made by the common Muslim. Congress came to power through the politics of appeasement, but the question remains what did Muslims gain from it? The 2013 amendments in Waqf act were merely an attempt to appease the land mafia. The new Waqf law aims to ensure dignity for all, particularly the marginalised," Modi said.

Speaking at the Rising Bharat Summit 2025, Prime Minister Modi said that India is destined to become the third-largest economy in the world. He asserted that despite geopolitical challenges, India achieved remarkable growth and become fifth largest economy in just 10 years.

"The world is looking at India with hope. India, despite facing numerous challenges, has achieved remarkable growth and become the world's fifth largest economy in a very short span of time. In just 10 years, it doubled its economy size, showcasing its resilience and determination. Those who used to think that India will run slow and steady, they are now seeing fast and fearless India. There is no doubt that India will become world's third largest economy," Modi said.

The prime minister also said that flights from Navi Mumbai airport will begin soon.  End
