NEW DELHI – The Securities and Exchange Board of India on Tuesday said that it will now post notifications and updates related to regulations, circulars, and orders on its new handle on X, formerly Twitter, @SEBI_updates, which was launched on Friday. This new account aims to provide investors and market participants with quick access to updates.

SEBI's previous X handle, @SEBI_India, was locked in August last year following allegations made by Hindenburg Research against former SEBI chief Madhabi Puri Buch. The main accusation was that Buch had a major conflict of interest in Adani Group investigation. Buch denied the allegations, asserting that she had fully complied with SEBI's internal code of conduct and followed all necessary recusals.

When investors and market participants tried to access SEBI's X handle at that time, they received the message, "These posts are protected. Only confirmed followers have access to @SEBI_India's posts and complete profile." This led to frustration among investors on X, as they were unable to view SEBI's posts. The restriction was later lifted.

New handle on X @SEBI_updates is now accessible to all investors but readers are unable to reply to the posts on this account.  End
