IMD sees severe heatwave over west Rajasthan, Saurashtra, Kutch till Tue

MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department has predicted severe heatwave to continue to affect west Rajasthan, Saurashtra, and Kutch till Tuesday. It also said that a heatwave is likely to prevail over Gujarat, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, east Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh for the next four days.
The weather department has indicated that hot and humid conditions are expected to persist along the coastal areas of Gujarat until Thursday, and Konkan and Goa till Wednesday. Additionally, warm weather is expected during the nights in parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra, and Kutch. No significant change in maximum temperatures is likely over Gujarat in the next three days, according to the weather bureau.
The India Meteorological Department sees a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius over several parts of northwest India and Maharashtra in the next three days and a fall by 2-4 degrees Celsius in the subsequent two days. A rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius is likely over multiple pockets of central India during next three days, with no significant change seen in subsequent four days.
According to the department, there is no major change in maximum temperatures likely over many parts of east India during next 24 hours. However, a fall in temperatures by 2-3 degrees Celsius in subsequent four days is expected.
The weather agency also mentioned that a fresh western disturbance is expected to impact the western Himalayan region starting Tuesday. Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, are likely over Jammu, Ladakh, Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand throughout the week. Isolated rainfall is also expected over northwest India on Thursday.
Under the influence of multiple weather systems, isolated to scattered light or moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning, and gusty winds are likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Kerala, Mahe, Karanataka, east and northeast India during this week. Isolated hailstorm is likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, and Jharkhand on Tuesday. End
