Govt appoints two whole-time members for finance and law in PFRDA

NEW DELHI – The government has appointed Sanjay Pandey, financial adviser and chief accounts officer of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation, as the whole-time member (finance) of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority. Additionally, Randip Singh Jagpal, executive director of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India, has been appointed as the whole-time member (law). These appointments were confirmed in gazette notifications issued on Thursday.
The whole-time member (finance) position was set to become vacant on Saturday, while the post of whole-time member (law) has been vacant since May 2022. The government had called for applications for these roles in late November.
The two appointments are effective "from the date of assumption of charge of the post till he attains the age of 62 years, or until further orders, whichever is the earlier," the notifications said.
Besides Pandey and Jagpal, the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority also has another whole-time member, Mamta Shankar, who oversees the economics division. The pension regulator's structure has the mandate for a chairperson and not more than six members, of whom at least three shall be whole-time members.
On Wednesday, the government appointed Sivasubramanian Ramann, deputy comptroller and auditor general, as the new chairperson of PFRDA, once Chairperson Deepak Mohanty's term ends on May 31. End
