NEW DELHI – Realty major Lodha, which is listed as Macrotech Developers Ltd., has accused certain entities of the House of Abhinandan Lodha of using forged documents to further its business activities and infringing its intellectual property rights. The former has set up a special committee of directors to look into the issue and take appropriate legal action, it said in an exchange filing on Wednesday. Macrotech Developers termed the issue "serious, critical, and startling".

Macrotech Developers is headed by Abhishek Lodha, while the other firm is run by his brother Abhinandan Lodha. The two have been embroiled in a legal controversy over the use of the 'Lodha' name in their respective businesses. Macrotech Developers has filed a suit in the Bombay High Court against Abhinandan Lodha's firm, accusing it of infringing trademarks and is seeking damages of INR 50 billion. The court has tasked retired Supreme Court judge Justice R.V. Raveendran to mediate the issue in five weeks.

It has accused certain entities of the House of Abhinandan Lodha of using its purported board resolutions containing a 'no objection' against the usage of Macrotech Developers' trademarks. The latter has said that it held no board meeting on the date these board resolutions claimed, nor has the board ever considered such a resolution in any of its other meetings whatsoever.

The board resolutions cited by entities of House of Abhinandan Lodha have the signature of one independent director on the board of Macrotech Developers, which the latter claims is significantly different from the executive's 'true' signature and even submitted a permanent account number card, which the executive says is not his.

Macrotech Developers has further accused at least two of these entities of approving and procuring a change in their corporate names to names starting with 'Lodha' from government authorities, to further their business activities.

"The Board of Directors of the Company in its meeting dated April 2, 2025 has perused the relevant documents and taken serious cognizance of the conspiracy to use fabricated documents in order to misuse the Company's goodwill, brand, and registered trademark," the company said in a statement.

For the December quarter, Macrotech Developers reported a consolidated net profit of INR 9.44 billion on consolidated revenues of INR 40.83 billion. On Wednesday, shares of the company closed at INR 1,218.45 on the National Stock Exchange, up 5.3%.  End
