India Feb tea output up 52% on year to 25.75 mln kg - Tea Board

MUMBAI – India's tea production rose 52% on year to 25.75 million kg in February, according to provisional data released by the Tea Board India. The country had produced 16.98 million kg of tea in February 2024. The country's tea production was 42.78 million kg in Jan-Feb.
Tea production in north Indian states rose by a whopping 474% on year to 10.97 million kg in February. Assam accounted for 12.6% of the north Indian production while West Bengal accounted for 85.8%, the data showed. West Bengal's production rose nearly 496% from a year ago. Tea production in north India in Jan-Fen was 11.01 million kg.
In north India, Assam produced 1.41 million kg of tea during Jan-Feb, while West Bengal produced 9.43 million kg, the data showed.
Tea production in south Indian states fell 1.9% on year to 14.78 million kg in February. Karnataka produced 290,000 kg of tea in February. Kerala produced 4.12 million kg, down 9.5% on year, the data showed. Tamil Nadu's tea production rose 1.5% to 10.37 million kg. In Jan-Feb tea production in south India was at 31.77 million kg, according to the data. End
